Mafia Wars was the 2009 Webby Award People's Voice Winner in the Games category.^[2] 

On Facebook, as of August 2010, Mafia Wars had up to 45.5 million monthly accounts created.^[5] 

As of April, 2011, Appdata.com reports that Mafia Wars players have shrunk down to 10.7 million monthly active accounts, with approximately 1.7 million daily active users.^[6] According to this same source, monthly active accounts dropped to 6.7 million by August 3, 2011; and to 5.7 million by September 2, 2011. 

Daily active users was at 1.2 million by August 3, 2011; dropping to 1 million by September 2, 2011. 

By February 2012, daily users were down to 540,000 and Mafia Wars had sunk to the 15th most popular Zynga game.

Mafia Wars fun page has 18,955,035 likes - quite a number, but reality is sad and completely different.

As you can see in the image bellow in almost a year daily users is cut in half.

But, no matter what this game has problems (some players would say - always),  enthusiasts are still here, not a big number of them, but they are.
